The Cost of Hair Extensions: What to Expect
Thinking about getting hair extensions but unsure about the cost? At BCY Artistry, we’re here to break down what you can expect when investing in your dream hair.
There is a wide variety of factors that influence the total price of your extensions. Let’s break a few of them down:
Factors Influencing Cost
Extension Type: Different methods (tape-ins, wefts, keratin bonds (thermal or cold fusion), I-tips, etc) have varying costs. Here BCY Artistry, we are certified with Great Lengths and Aqua and use the most luxurious quality of hair available.
Hair Quality: Companies source hair from many areas of the globe, and certain regions have hair that is more suitable for long-lasting, superior quality hair extensions. Not surprisingly, higher quality hair has a higher end price tag. The saying in industry is “cheap hair isn’t good and good hair isn't cheap!” 😉
Your Desired Look: Your desired finished look influences the total price.
Your Natural Hair: The length, density, and cut of your natural hair is one of the most influential factors to the total price of your hair extension transformation. For example, if you currently have a shoulder length blunt bob, and you desire waist-length hair, your transformation will require much more time and resources than someone with longer, fine density hair desiring the same look.
State of The Scalp & Density Of Natural Hair: Modern extensions are a completely customized approach to delivering flawless, transformative results. We take into account the state of your scalp and the uniform, or differing density of hair throughout your head. Depending on the current state of your scalp and density, a variety of attachment methods and sizes may need to be used to not only deliver beautiful results, but also a healthy and comfortable one.
Professional Color Customization: Depending on your hair color and your desired outcome for your finished look, a pre-application custom coloring may be needed to deliver your perfect results.
Special Orders: From time to time, a particular look or length may require a custom order for your hair to be created especially for you.
Texture / Curl Pattern: Depending on your natural texture and/or curl pattern, your extensions may need to be specially sourced to properly match your hair, and/or your extensions may be custom-permed to properly match your curl pattern.
Time: from start to finish, the time required to complete your desired look influences the total price.
Maintenance: Depending on the method we determine is best suited for your hair at this time, that method may or may not require salon maintenance to “move-up” or refresh your set of extensions.
Professional Application: Investing in a highly trained stylist who specializes in hair extensions ensures the best results and minimizes the risk of damage.
Demand and Expertise of Stylist: A stylist that is in high demand and continually invests in their hair extension education, with the results to prove it, is most likely going to come at a higher rate than other stylists who do not hyper-focus on hair extension services. If you scroll on social media for any length of time, you’ll certainly discover that there are stylists of all education levels offering hair extensions. The challenge in the industry is that many companies quickly “certify” stylists via a quick, low cost online course, and give them the title of “master stylist”. Here at BCY Artistry we take education very seriously and we know exactly what to do to deliver results that are unlike anywhere else.
